The PRP treatment is sometimes called a ‘blood facial’ or ‘vampire facial’. The platelet plasma is the component of the blood that is known for being highly effective in healing and treating burns or skin injuries. After that the activator (buffy coat) is added to the centrifuge. This is then injected to the part of the skin where treatment is needed, with very thin needles. This benefits collagen and elastin fiber growth, which makes your skin smoother and all around clearer.

What is a PRP Treatment?

The PRP treatment starts with drawing as little 10cc blood by the doctor from your arm. This blood is spinned at high speed (2000rpm) in a centrifuge. After about 10 minutes it separates into the red blood cells that fall to the bottom and the plasma part that rises to the top. The plasma part, called PRP or "platelet rich plasma" is taken off. The platelet plasma is the component of the blood that is known for being highly effective in healing and treating burns or skin injuries. After that the activator (buffy coat) is added to the centrifuge. At Tourmedical we add GRP to the mixture, which stands for Growth Factor Rich Plasma. This is then injected to the part of the skin where treatment is needed, with very thin needles. This benefits collagen and elastin fiber growth, which makes your skin smoother and all around clearer.

What is the procedure?

During the treatment, the doctor will assess the degree of skin aging, perform a simple skin analysis, and recommend injection sites on the face that need to be filled. We want to ensure that you’re comfortable throughout the procedure. Therefore, your skin will be cleaned and prepared for a local anesthetic cream to be applied, while nerve blocks may also be applied to sensitive areas. Then the doctor will draw some blood and put it through centrifugation. Once the PRP is separated, it will then be injected through a syringe while targeting specific problems.

A PRP session duration lasts 30-40 minutes according to the size of the area. Though it varies from person to person, we recommend 3-6 sessions with a 2-3 weeks interval, for optimal results. For maintenance treatments, we recommend that the sessions are repeated every 7-8 months, depending on your skin type.

After the treatment, daily life can be continued. During the periond of the PRP treatment however, sunbathing or a solarium should be avoided.
