Zirconium/ zirconia is biocompatible, non allergic, non electrical conductive material with the unique specification of letting light pass through so that the crown appears to be a natural tooth. Zirconinum/zirconia also provides the extra comfort that it would not break or chip over a period of time as against a full porcelain crown to which this is occasionally known to happen.
Porcelain is the traditional material used for new crowns. Full porcelain however may chip or break. This is overcome by making the crowns from metal, in this case the metal being zirconia, then fusing porcelain to the outside.
The zirconia metal provides the strength whilst the porcelain provides the outward appearance on a normal tooth. Zirconium crowns allow light to pass through as with a normal tooth giving a natural look, unlike other metal cores which block the light. Some resources are also calling them as Non-Allergic Crowns and say Zirconia is"Biocompatible" because the body does not reject it. Unlike Amalgam Fillings and metal alloys, the human body accepts zirconium, zirconia as a natural material, so you would not need to worry about allergies or adverse reactions.

Firstly I just want to say WOW to the clinic itself! It is stunning and would honestly put dental clinics to shame here in Ireland. The cleanliness is just outstanding, and put me quite at ease when I arrived first. My cosmetic dentist Elcin was just fantastic and has been perfecting her work for the last 13 years. All of the staff were so lovely and not to mention always had a smile on their faces when I walked in.

I am very pleased with the Treatment and Extra Services. The Dentist and Staff were very friendly and proffesional.
I used to be a dental nurse, so really did my research before choosing my dentist to perform my treatment. I was in an accident very young and damaged my teeth, so have had crowns from an early age. I contacted Majella from Tourmedical over 3 years ago and from the beginning i found her to be very informative and Professional. She gave me lots of information on the options available to me and felt confident about choosing Tourmedical to perform my treatment for me.
I have to say the treatment was second to none!! I have had lots of treatment over the past 30 years and have worked at several surgeries for about 13 dentists, who claim to have the best surgeries in the UK and i have to say i have NEVER had such amazing treatment in such a fabulous clinic. The sterile environment is far better than the standards in the UK. Even after having my crowns done 4 times before, this is the first time i want to smile. The dentist explained everything to me, put me at ease,i had no pain throughout. The Cosmetic Dentist is so skilled, i never even imagined i could have such a beautiful smile. The staff are all so friendly and couldnt do enough for me, from the pick up from airport to the drop off, i felt safe and looked after. I have already recommended Tourmedical to friends of mine, who i know are interested in dental treatment and all i can say to anyone who needs work done, Just do it, you will never receive anything better than you get at Tourmedical. I certainly will be back for more.

Dental porcelain crowns are sculpted to closely replicate the look of natural tooth enamel and replace the entire external portion of the tooth down to the gum level. Crowns are not simply limited to replacing the original tooth but can be used as dental bridges for a single or multiple missing teeth, to support large fillings or to protect weak teeth from fracturing.Time Scale
A jacket crown is a full porcelain ceramic covered crown which is used to protect the entire surface of a tooth. Crowns are an ideal way to rebuild teeth which have been broken or weakened by decay or large fillings. Crowns are fitted over the remaining part of the tooth to make it strong and give it the shape and contour of a natural tooth. Crowns may also be used to help to whiten, reshape and realign existing teeth. Jacket crowns have the translucency of a natural tooth and is often recommended for anterior teeth.Time Scale
